Positively, there’s one scene in a church, but it doesn’t seem to make a big difference. The movie follows a predominant Romantic worldview with humanist elements about putting yourself and your desires first. In ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES, life seems truly meaningless if you can’t find beauty in the absolute power of God. That said, this movie is tragic and leaves viewers unsatisfied in some ways. Nonetheless the acting is quite good with believable performances from both Elle Fanning and Justice Smith.
Based on a young adult novel, ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES is similar to PAPER TOWNS or THE FAULT IN OUR STARS although it lacks some of the wit that John Green brings to each of those novels.
